Requirements
At the start of the 2020-21 academic year, we launched the Skills Enhancement Programme to address the fact that so many of our students were unable to complete internships and placements as a result of the pandemic. Around 50 students engaged with the programme, which saw them contribute to employer-led projects in multi-disciplinary groups.
Following, we’re now pleased to launch the second instalment. This time taking place outside of term time, the programme will run from Monday 7th - Friday 18th June. Final-year students will participate & progress through daily University-led sessions, supporting their employability skills and their ability to reflect on their experiences, alongside their completion of the main element of the programme: their chosen project, as put forward by participating employers/organisations.
We’re now keen to source project-proposals from employers/organisations, which offer multi-disciplinary student groups authentic experiences to undertake during the coming weeks. Beyond completion of the initial project brief (comprising an overview of the organisation & the context in which it operates and aims, objectives, & key project deliverables), we’re hoping that organisational representatives would be available to engage with their student group in a minimum of three short meetings: an introduction & project launch, an optional steering/guidance meeting, and a closing meeting in which deliverables/outcomes are presented by the students. Of course, if you'd like to work more closely with the students, that is always welcome!
Example projects include, but are not limited to:
- New market entry.
- Marketing and Research strategies
- Operations management solutions.
- Leveraging new technologies for change.
- Horizon Scanning and Competitive Landscape Mapping
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Engage with their student-group in a recommended three short meetings: an introduction & project launch, an optional steering/guidance meeting, and a closing meeting in which deliverables/outcomes are presented by the students.
